I'm trying to print part "fuselage 3" without success. I've tried, as the manual says, to print large end down but the 10mm tube for the large carbon wing rod is printed in mid air and I end up with spaghetti. This tube also supports the shell cuts that in turn support the other tubes. In addition the tube for the 3mm fuselage rod starts in mid air.
Looking at the shell cuts to create the supports for the various internals it looks like Fuselage 3 should be printed with the small side down. The fuselage rod also starts on the baseplate. The problem this case you can't print the magnet bay for the cowling as that is in mid air.
Regarding the cable tunnels in fuselage 1 and 3 these don't look printable as they have extend portions of unsupported tunnels whichever way up they are printed.
Any suggestions on how to print this component?
Hi Hedley, I apologise, that is my mistake in the manual, Fuselage 3 should be printed with the small side down. You correctly identified the support line runs up from the back. You can also use supports for the trailing edge of the wing root (though I have printed without). The magnet bay prints without issue, the first layer of it may curl at the corners but the latter layers sort that out. It prints on top of infill so is not in mid air as such. The cable tunnels also have no issues printing. They are subtly angled and supported intermittently by infill. I have printed all the parts at least twice so I am 100% confident that they can be printed. It’s always good practice to check the cura preview before printing but not all parts that seem unprintable turn out that ways. Apologies again for the mistake in the manual, when importing dozens of these screenshots I must have lost track! Jon
