Specification
The amphibious aircraft game changer by Burt Rutan
The SkiGull is a two-seat composite/titanium aircraft equipped with retractable ski undercarriage that can have wheels attached for water, snow or land operations, landing on around 400 feet of surface, but with a range to cross oceans. The engine is configured to operate with Swift Fuel, auto or boat fuel.

For our 3D printed micro model of the SkiGull we have made few changes. We have done away with the skis and wheels, instead using a contoured belly for take off and landing on smooth surfaces. The model utilises the UMX Cessna 182 components (you can buy them here) and the lightweight qualities of low density foaming filament, such as LW-PLA from Colorfabb. Doing thins we achieve a remarkable 113g all up weight.

Whilst designed with water use in mind, given the cost of UMX electronics and the potential for loss I can't recommend using the Skigull on water (if you do, be sure to waterproof your model with fixative pray..)

This model would be a good candidate to play around with scaling in CURA, if you want to print a larger scale model. You can also install your own choice of electronics but be warned the 720mm span version here is a very tight fit up front for battery and board.

For this 3D printed model we recommend a print bed size of 150mm/150mm/150mm

THE MODEL IS DESIGNED TO BE PRINTED IN LW-PLA or other low density foaming filament.
